I think I'm liking this hybrid approach and having better success in regards to combat. When I'm ready to get up close and block and make strong attacks, I will switch back to first person view. When I need to evade and maneuver I switch to third person view. Last night I had a sort of epiphany though and started toggling back and forth between the 2 viewpoints. However, I found the first person view makes it hard to evade and maneuver when you are battling clearly higher level enemies. I like the first person view when I'm out exploring and traveling the world and also for up close melee combat.
For some reason with this game, I've stuck with first person view instead of third person which I'm normally comfortable in with these types of games. I think a lot of my struggles are coming from playing in first person. I'm still pretty early on (only at level 10) but I feel like I shouldn't be getting my ass kicked as much as I am.
There's so many options it's pretty overwhelming. One thing I am struggling with is combat. This is my very first play through of the game and I'm enjoying it for the most part.
